To encourage university students in Taiwan to engage in research related to healthy cities, age-friendly cities, and health promotion, and to foster interdisciplinary academic exchange while strengthening the connections among healthy city theories, public policy, and local practice, the Taiwan Alliance for Healthy Cities is pleased to announce the 2026 1st Outstanding Student Paper Award on Healthy Cities.
Through the recognition and exchange of outstanding research, the Award aims to contribute to the development of locally grounded knowledge on healthy cities in Taiwan and to promote the translation of research findings into practical references for local governance, public policy, spatial planning, health promotion, and community-based initiatives.
The Award is open to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students in fields related to public health, medicine, ageing, transportation, urban planning, landscape architecture, preventive healthcare, health promotion, sports and recreation, and education. Graduates who obtained their degrees within the two academic years preceding the announcement (August 1, 2024–July 31, 2026) are also eligible to apply. Submitted papers must have been completed during the applicant’s period of study and must demonstrate a clear connection to healthy cities or related topics. Applications must be recommended by an academic advisor, university department, college, or research center.
The competition consists of three categories: Undergraduate Paper, Master’s Thesis, and Doctoral Dissertation. In the Undergraduate category, one Outstanding Award recipient will receive NT$6,000, one Excellence Award recipient will receive NT$3,000, and up to three Honorable Mentions will be selected. In the Master’s category, one Outstanding Award recipient will receive NT$8,000, one Excellence Award recipient will receive NT$5,000, and up to three Honorable Mentions will be selected. In the Doctoral category, one Outstanding Award recipient will receive NT$10,000, one Excellence Award recipient will receive NT$7,000, and up to three Honorable Mentions will be selected. Award certificates will be presented to both the award recipients and their academic advisors. If the number or quality of submissions in any category is insufficient, the organizing committee reserves the right to combine categories, select fewer recipients, or withhold an award.
Applicants should complete the Taiwan Alliance for Healthy Cities “Student Paper Award Recommendation Form” and prepare all required application materials in accordance with the official guidelines. Hard-copy application materials must be mailed to the Secretariat of the Taiwan Alliance for Healthy Cities (P.O. Box 7-70, National Cheng Kung University Post Office) by September 11, 2026. Electronic copies of the recommendation form and submitted paper must also be sent to the Alliance by email.
The list of award recipients is scheduled to be announced on October 12, 2026, through the official website and social media platforms of the Taiwan Alliance for Healthy Cities. Award recipients will also be notified by email.
As a co-organizer of this initiative, the Healthy Cities Research Center at National Cheng Kung University warmly invites undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students working on healthy cities and related fields to participate and share research with innovative ideas and practical relevance. Through interdisciplinary academic exchange, the Center hopes to further strengthen the connections between healthy city research, local policy, and practical implementation.
